English Learner Advisory Committee ELAC
Welcome to the James Monroe English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)! ELAC plays a vital role in supporting our English Learners and their families.
ELAC is a school-based committee whose role is to advise the principal and the SSC on programs and services for English Learner students and other school issues. This is an opportunity for families to learn about the program’s legal requirements, review overall EL progress, and discuss interventions and supports needed for student success and achievement. ELAC also provided input on the Monroe Comprehensive School Safety Plan as well as the annual school wide Needs Assessment.
Additionally, this committee provides parent trainings to ensure students are successful in school. Some topics covered include the importance of attendance, understanding CAASPP and ELPAC results, supporting your child with homework, increasing literacy in the home, and social/emotional growth.
Together, we celebrate diversity and work towards creating an enriching educational experience for all students.
